What To Wear // Spring 2016

The days are starting to sunnier, the temperatures are rising and Winter is almost leaving us again: Spring is coming! And with a new season comes a new set of trends to try out, to experiment with and to enjoy. Almost Famous Writer has lined up the 10 hottest trends of the upcoming season, both as they were spotted on the runway, and as you can buy them for a budget-friendly price.

// 3D-effect

Appliqué flowers were spotted at the Michael Kors runway show and I love it. It gives depth to your fashion piece, and this blush H&M skirt would be the perfect buy.

// Serious Stripes

Always a good idea: stripes. Whether you combine a striped top with simple jeans, or go full-out with a completely striped dress, it’s all possible this Spring.

// Luxurious Lace

A lot of designers were inspired by the Victorian age this season, for example Oscar de la Renta. Lace fits beautifully into this trend, as do high-neck tops. This deep green item from H&M is subtly Victorian and can be worn more casual, with dark jeans, or more chilly, by combining the item with a black pencil skirt and high heels.

// Double Denim

Denim is one of the biggest trends of the season, and especially over-the-top denim. Combine your jeans with a denim jacket and your style is on point. Or you can wear a denim dress, salopette or even culotte to make your mark this Spring.

// Half-Moon Bag

Spotted at the Victoria Beckham runway show: the it-bag of the season, the half-moon bag. You can wear an oversized one, as shown in the picture on the left, or keep it more subtle, by wearing a smaller, cross-over bag like the one from H&M. This bag woud also be perfect for the upcoming festival season, as it adds a playful tone to your look.

// Sexy Slip

Lingerie is no longer for in the bedroom and beneath your clothes, it is an actual fashion item this Spring. The slip dress, with its flowing shape and the spaghetti straps, is the most popular item. I love this soft pink one from Mango, which I would combine with a denim jacket and sneakers to make the look a bit more casual.

// Culotte

An item for dare-devils: the culotte. It is a more loosely fitted pair of trousers, that should end just below your knee. A length that is not for everyone (I think I’m skipping this trend with my short legs), but it can look really chique with a good pair of heels.

// Off-Shoulder

The 70s trend has been around for a couple of seasons already, and this Spring it is still very fashionable. Especially the off-shoulder tops are very present at the runway shows, for example at Michael Kors. This blue H&M top is the perfect and budget-friendly alternative.

// Funky Florals

A trend that ties in with the Victorian one, are florals. Flowers are always classy, but this season, you can go a little crazier. You can wear a dress completely covered in flowers, like this one from C&A, and your look would be on point.

// Kitten Heel

The last trend is not for everyone, the kitten heel. Although they seem to be extremely comfortable because of their low heel, I’m just not sure if I like them. I do, however, like this pair from New Look, with a block kitten heel, for a slightly more modern look.
